These data are the observational data from the 2018 Oregon Bee Atlas native bee surveys. All of the records represent specimens caught in the field, pinned, labelled, and identified by experts. Voucher specimens were deposited in the Oregon State Arthropod Collection for all nominative taxa sampled from as many locations as feasible.

Dados Sobre o Projeto
The Oregon Bee Atlas is a new volunteer-led effort to characterize the bee fauna of Oregon State by collecting, preparing, and databasing native bee species and capturing plant host records. In 2018, volunteers collected 11,044 bee specimens across 33 Oregon counties, representing 179 unique bee species, and 32 unique bee genera. Specimens were collected from a total of 310 unique flowering plant genera, resulting in one of the largest state-level databases of bee-host plant interactions. Volunteers produced valuable occurrence records for species poorly known for the State, and species of conservation concern. The 2018 efforts constitute a proof-of-concept of a specimen-focused volunteer native bee survey.

Métodos de Amostragem
Most bees were sampled using aerial nets, although pan traps were occasionally used; this is recorded in the data set.
| Área de Estudo | Bees were sampled throughout Oregon. The aim of this survey is to obtain faunistic absence/presence data, not abundance. The vast majority of specimens were collected by citizen scientist with training in how to survey bees and obtain research grade observational data for the records. |
