The Butterfly and Moth collection at OSAC is a heavily used resource. Like much of the collections, specimens extend back through the early 20th century thereby providing useful information about the historical distributions of our local Pacific Northwest species.
A great many lepidopterists have contributed to our collection - either through donating specimens from their personal collections or by donating their time and expertise to curate the collection. Notable contributions were made by Ann & Ray Albright, Harold E. Rice, Jon Shepard, John Vernon, Jeffrey Miller, Dana Ross, David McCorkle, Andrew Brower, Andrew Warren, Ralph Macy, and many others.
